The Better Food Company was created in San Diego County with a purpose: to deliver simple, high-quality food items to the community it serves. Although high quality food of the type we sell can be found, it is not so easy to find dairy foods that are of the highest quality and freshness. It is our objective to provide foods that are sustainably sourced, organic and as close to fully natural as is possible in this day and age.
The raw milk we sell, from Claravale Dairy, is from the finest breed of cow that we have experienced – the Jersey. The milk from a Jersey cow is rich in cream and the taste is the finest. Pure Bred Jersey’s also have the A2 type of protein, which is considerably easier to digest than the A1 milk of crossbred cows like the black & white Holsteins.
Claravale also sells raw goat’s milk. They have more than one breed of goat and the mix of milk is very good tasting. The goat breeds currently in stock are Saanens, La Mancha, Alpine and Nubian mix.
The cheese from the Better Food Company are from various local farms and are some of the very best cheeses made. All of the cheese and the milk they are made from are never heated above 110 degrees. This guarantees to you that you get all of the unaltered nutrition from the milk as well as the cheese culture enzymes. The cheese is easier to digest than pasteurized milk cheeses. This is because all of the enzymes are present in the milk to digest all of the special nutrition that is found in raw milk. You also get the one nutrient that has been kept from the public knowledge – good bacteria, otherwise known as probiotics.
Unheated milk is full of good bacteria, just like cabbage leaves are. Sauerkraut was not created by science, but by the good bacteria that naturally comes with cabbage and all other plants in nature. Cows eat grass and ingest the good bacteria from the plants, which then appears in the milk, when it is in the raw, unheated form. Good bacteria is absolutely vital to good digestive health. Without it the intestinal lining breaks down and begins to bleed. Good Bacteria requires insoluble fiber to do what it does. Foods like Ashwagandha and potatoes are good sources of insoluble fiber.
Some people get bloating and gas when drinking raw milk. If you are one of those, check out the following document on why this happens. It is important to give the milk a month or so to integrate with your body. Much more detail is found in the following article starting on page 4.

The Better Food Company also offers excellent unheated yogurts, cottage cheese, cream, 100% natural eggs, whey, kefir and butter. Some of the milk products come in salted or unsalted forms. Specify which you prefer when selecting items like these. The unsalted butter is marvelous. Adding salt hides the delicious taste of the butter. Try the foods from the Better Food Company and see that we mean what we say – Some of the finest foods ever sold.
